we are glad to send the results of XXXII International Festival of Satire and Humor "City of Trento" that this year challenged you all with the theme ROOTS.
We received a lot of artworks and we thank you for being so many every year to join our contest.
We are also happy to tell you that the exhibition of the selected artworks will be inaugurated on Friday 18th October at Palazzo Trentini via Gianantonio Manci 27, Trento, and will stay open until Sunday 3rd November 2024.

On 21st August 2024 at 9:30am took place a video-conference held by Studio d’Arte Andromeda (via Malpaga 11, Trento, Italy) to start the work of the jury for the above-mentioned contest. 
This year’s theme was:ROOTS

Veronica Rigotti, representing Studio d’Arte Andromeda, opens the jury work for XXXII
International Festival of Humor and Satire “City of Trento” proposing the nomination of a jury’s president and a jury’ s secretary.
Online at the video-conference are present: Marco De Angelis, Marilena Nardi, Veronica Rigotti and Tiziano Beber. Marco De Angelis is voted as President of the jury and Tiziano Beber as Secretary, unanimously.
The jury takes in consideration the big participation of the authors: this year we received artworks from 430 authors, for a total of 945 artworks coming from 58 countries. We feel like the level and quality of each work was very high. This year’s theme, ambiguous and interpretable in different ways, has maybe helped everybody’s creativity and has allowed the creation of powerful works both on graphic level and originality. In many of the works the authors reached a poetic level of expression through graphic and pictorial media.
The jury proceeds with the analysis of the comics category and then of the satire and humor category. Each artwork is discussed between the members of the jury.
The selection work takes place through the morning and the first part of the afternoon, without interruptions or problems.
The analysis of the artworks received for comics category takes the jury to the selection of the 11 artworks that will join the exhibition; between them, the jury selected the first prize.
The jury then proceeds with the satire and humor category and selects the 197 artworks that will join the exhibition, 3 prizes, 7 honorable mentions and also assigned the Special Prize Alessandro Alfonsi.
The prize assignment, approved unanimously after discussion, is the following:

Studio d'Arte Andromeda'yı temsil eden Veronica Rigotti, XXXII. Uluslararası Mizah ve Hiciv Festivali “Trento Şehri” için jüri çalışmalarını açarak bir jüri başkanı ve jüri sekreteri adaylığı önerdi.
Video konferansta çevrimiçi olarak şunlar yer aldı: Marco De Angelis, Marilena Nardi, Veronica Rigotti ve Tiziano Beber. Marco De Angelis, jüri başkanı ve Tiziano Beber ise sekreter olarak oy birliğiyle seçildi.
Jüri, yazarların büyük katılımını dikkate aldı: bu yıl 430 yazardan sanat eseri aldık, toplamda 58 ülkeden 945 sanat eseri geldi. Her eserin seviyesinin ve kalitesinin çok yüksek olduğunu düşünüyoruz. Bu yılın belirsiz ve farklı şekillerde yorumlanabilen teması, belki de herkesin yaratıcılığına yardımcı oldu ve hem grafik düzeyde hem de özgünlükte güçlü eserler yaratılmasına izin verdi. Yazarlar eserlerin çoğunda grafik ve resimsel medya aracılığıyla şiirsel bir ifade düzeyine ulaştı.
Jüri, çizgi roman kategorisinin ve ardından hiciv ve mizah kategorisinin analizine devam ediyor. Her sanat eseri jüri üyeleri arasında tartışılır.
Seçim çalışması sabah ve öğleden sonranın ilk bölümünde kesintisiz veya sorunsuz bir şekilde gerçekleşir.
Çizgi roman kategorisi için gelen sanat eserlerinin analizi, jüriyi sergiye katılacak 11 sanat eserinin seçimine götürür; jüri bunlar arasından birincilik ödülünü seçer.
Jüri daha sonra hiciv ve mizah kategorisine geçer ve sergiye katılacak 197 sanat eserini, 3 ödülü, 7 mansiyonu seçer ve ayrıca Alessandro Alfonsi Özel Ödülü'nü atar.

FIRST PRIZE:Oguz Demir - Turkey
The concept of “Roots” is expressed with originality and a clean and incisive graphic style. In his artwork, where all forms of life come out of an egg shell, humana are amongst all creatures,without distinctions and in an original and equal balance.
Demir shows us with a masterful conceptual and graphic synthesis how Nature is our Mother e makes us all interconected.

SECOND PRIZE:Anna Formilan - Italy
With these trees transforming themselves into space rockets to escape a planet that’s altered and corrupted, Anna Formilan tells us that, as an extreme resource, it’s necessary to eradicate ourselves to find new life and new salvation, maybe on a new planet that’s not stained by human kind. Her artwork is of exceptional visual impact, where the graphic metaphore and the colors are used in a very efficient way.

THIRD PRIZE:Oleg Dergachov - France
There are the basis of genetic science, but also a direct cultural and social message, in Dergachov’s artwork, where hereditariness is the product of a balanced mix between diversities. What might look as an anomaly, can instead bring life and a singular perfection.
The skilled pictorial use of colors meets perfectly with an intelligent graphic synthesis in this original, creepy, but memorale “family portrait”.

SPECIAL PRIZE ALESSANDRO ALFONSI:Firuz Kutal - Norway
Firuz Kutal, with an elegant ad essential line, responds to the exhibition’s theme looking closely into human kind and the world we are part of. In a drawing where symbolism and surrealism leave affirmations and questions open, the author uses reflected images of the trees and of the man to reveal, or ask, what the essence of life might be.

COMICS FIRST PRIZE:Santago Cornejo - Argentina
A fun, silent artwork with bright colors and few essential sequences – where the caricatural style resembles the american magazine Mad- that puts as in front of an embarassing paternity test of a superhero family. Cornejo, without using words, tells us about the theme of origins and
heritage, using iconic characters of superhero comics with fantasy and humor.
The jury works are closed at 06.00pm on 21st August 2024.
